Industrial Plant Production Saved
HOUSTON - A plant near Victoria, TX recently experienced a failure of it's large capacity primary cooling system and the reliability of the back up system was questionable. If the back up systems failed the plant would be down and loosing $70,000 of production a day. NuTemp received a call at noon on a Friday asking if it had equipment that could do the duty. It had to be ready to go, it had to be high voltage, it had to accommodate high flow through the evaporator. NuTemp had a trailer mounted 1,000 HP liquid chiller that met all of the criteria. The unit shipped by 4:00 p.m. and was on site the next day. Because of the high flow rates the plant had planned to hard pipe the unit. Hard piping was going to take until Tuesday; could NuTemp provide enough hose to pipe both the chilled fluid and the cooling water and do it quicker than Tuesday? The answer was yes and 1300 ft. of hose, header assemblies, balancing valves, nuts, bolts, gaskets, etc. was sent to the job site Saturday morning. Lane Blount, the NuTemp Sales Engineer went to the job site with the hardware to smooth the installation. Working through the night the chiller was ready to start Sunday Morning. Sam Cortez, a NuTemp start up technician, arrived early Sunday, had the unit up and running and the plant producing at 95% capacity by the end of the day.
