- NuTemp Inc., a leader in rental temperature-control equipment,
has expanded the scope of its rental equipment specifically designed
to meet the needs of the industrial process cooling market.
NuTemp has added to its rental fleet a line of heavy-duty industrial
air conditioners, a 1,000-horsepower trailer mounted cooling system
capable of supply temperatures to minus-40 degrees Fahrenheit, and
a pair of rotary-screw industrial skids that offer unprecedented
flexibility to meet the widely varying needs of the industrial process
user.
Air
conditioners

The
NTIA-30 Industrial Air Conditioners are a complete packaged air-cooling
system. They require only ducting to the area or device being cooled
and connection to a suitable power supply.
These
heavy-duty units, manufactured at NuTemp's Gonzales, La., depot,
can deliver up to 12,000 cubic feet per minute of air at temperatures
to 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Static pressures to 6 inches of water
column (wc) are obtainable to allow long duct runs without compromising
cooling ability. Each unit is factory-tested and set to job site
requirements prior to shipment.
These
units are well-suited for such diverse applications as low-temperature
air, high air flow or long temporary duct runs.
Process
cooling

The 1,000-horsepower, trailer-mounted cooling system - an
industry first - was designed with great flexibility in mind and
packaged to facilitate installation in the shortest possible time.
The unit can operate on 2,300 or 4,160 volt power supply and requires
no skid changes to make the switch.
The
main motor starter is part of the skid package and all internal
piping and wiring is complete, so that power need only be connected
to one point to make the chiller operational. The unit features
a rotary-screw compressor and includes a hot gas bypass system to
allow continuous operation at zero load.
The
industrial skids were also designed for greater flexibility and
ease of installation. Provisions are made during design and construction
to make it quick and easy to change from high-temperature, high
flow applications to low-temperature, low-flow so that lead times
are minimized.
The
700-horsepower skids, even though high-capacity and completely packaged,
are able to be shipped without special permitting so that they can
travel 24 hours to meet emergency needs. The skids feature a broad
application range, are compatible with almost all process fluids
and are capable of more than 100 tons at minus-40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Even
though the skids were designed to be flexible, the first rental
for one required modifications. NuTemp's customer, a Houston chemical
company, needed more capacity than an existing air-cooled chiller
was delivering, but had very limited power and space for a replacement.
NuTemp's
efficient water-cooled skid provided the greatest capacity with
the power available. The water-cooled skid would fit in the same
pace as the air-cooled skid, but where to put the cooling tower?
NuTemp solved the problem by building a support structure on the
skid and installing the cooling tower on top of the chiller. The
chiller fluid and condenser pumps were added to the skid and the
entire package made suitable for installation in a Class I Division
II environment.
NuTemp
also has added a fleet of large custom portable cooling towers.
These new cooling towers are designed and manufactured for the maximum
cooling possible while maintaining easy portability. The towers
are rated at 2,000 nominal tons of cooling each, are completely
self-contained and can be running within hours of arriving on the
job site. They are ideal for boosting the capacity of big field-erected
cooling towers in chemical plants, refineries and utility plants.
